Citizen is a company that has been around for a long time; since 1924, in fact. You may have heard of them, since they have held the title of world’s largest watch maker since 1986. It wasn’t until recently, however, that Citizen came out with one of the coolest watches I have seen in a long time. It’s called the Citizen Eco-Drive and it’s available as a ladies sports watch.

What is cool about this watch is that it needs no battery to run it! Yes, that’s correct. I said no battery. You see, the watch absorbs light through the crystal and the dial and a solar cell converts the light and stores it as energy. Not only that, but this watch can resist water for up to 666 feet and it holds a 5-year warranty.

The Citizen Watch Company originally revolutionized watches years ago, starting out with putting out the slimmest LCD watch ever. They then moved on to creating the first-ever voice recognition watch. And after that, the first ever diver’s watch with an electronic depth sensor. Citizen has been unmatched in generating new ideas in the field of watch technology, and now they have created this, the Citizen Eco-Drive Ladies Sports Watch. They have dressy models and sporty dive models as well. The Citizen Eco-Drive is Eco friendly and will run continuously in natural or artificial light for a lifetime of use.

Personally, I’m looking in to getting one of these for myself. The price tag is a bit steep for a writer like myself, but if you look at it as a once in a lifetime investment, then it doesn’t look too shabby.

Another great thing about this watch is that it has a low-charge warning mode. When it is low on light energy, the second hand will move twice per second (while still keeping the correct time).

“Oh, but what if I want to put it away at night with all my other jewelry?” you might be asking. “Won’t it lose power?” Nope. A fully-charged Citizen Eco-Drive will last from 45 days to 5 years without any light whatsoever. That’s right, I said 5 years.

“What if the sun isn’t out?” Well, just hold it up to a fluorescent lamp. It can be charged that way.

Citizen has done it again. The Eco-Drive watch is the perfect thing for this “green” power-hungry society of today. I wonder how they’ll revolutionize the watch industry next time?

Rarely do you see a watch with such a long face. It’s shape gives it a somewhat elegant appearance, but to some it may seem gimmicky and oversized.

As you well know, there has been a lot of talk on this site about ladies dress watches. However, we haven’t actually given you any information on ladies digital watches (yet).

Since the creation of the first digital watch in 1970, and the first sale of one for $2,100 in 1972, digital watches have always been on the cutting edge of design. In 1982, Seiko made the first television watch. In 1987, Citizen made the first voice-recognition watch. Digital watches have been inspiring creativity for years.

Over the next few days, we’re going to show you some of the coolest ladies digital watches on the market, starting with the Kenneth Cole New York KC2315. As you can see, it this waterproof watch is very stylish and it’s minimalist design adds to it’s fun appearance. The casing is stainless steel and the band is made of real leather.

One of my good friends owns a jewelry store about 20 minutes from where I live. I‘ve seen a lot of ads in the paper recently for it, and their cheap selection of DKNY ladies watches, so I decided to go check it out the other day to see what all the fuss is about. My buddy has a great eye for modern design, and that’s the first thing that struck me about the place as I entered. Sure, the colors and furniture were fresh and new, but his DKNY ladies watch on display was what really struck me.

He was telling me about the different features of DKNY watches. “Did you know,” he said. “That DKNY has some of the most inexpensive dress ladies watches on the market?” I didn’t. In fact, I had never even seen a DKNY watch before. He let me try it on, and, I must tell you, it was one of the most amazing watches I have ever strapped on my wrist! “This watch is only 75 dollars?” I exclaimed. “Yep.” He answered. “And it comes with a lifetime warranty.”

Needless to say, I purchased it right then and there. The crystals gleamed in the sun as I walked home. I couldn’t believe my good fortune to have found such a great watch for such a great bargain. Before that day started, I wasn’t even aware of the value of a DKNY ladies watch, and now I own one.

This very well could be the thing that brings this country out of the recession we are in. If more companies would stop making watches for profit and start catering to their customers, we would have a better world.
